Across Trinidad and Tobago's energy and industrial sectors

Fifty years in the energy sector, and the same discipline wherever critical equipment runs. We keep the country's plant and platforms working.

One method, many assets

We are a repair-led firm. What changes is the asset and the environment, not the method.

Across every sector we serve, the work is the same shape: extend the life of equipment that is expensive to replace and costly to shut down. The Trinidad and Tobago sector is mature and active, and most of our work is repair versus replace on infrastructure that has years of service left in it.

Sectors we keep running

Find your world below, then follow the link to the service or product line that fits the asset.

  • Upstream Oil and Gas

Chokes, valves, wellheads and iron on producing fields are what SUAC handles every working week. The gear runs at the edge of its design limits. Produced fluids corrode it. Load cycles wear it. The paperwork rarely keeps pace.

We service wellheads and Christmas trees. We pressure-test flow iron and recertify drilling iron on its examination cycle. Valves come to us for strip-down and rebuild. We also build automated chemical-injection systems, and we represent Masterflo, Hoke and TechnipFMC for pressure-control and instrumentation duties.

The work runs in-country. Equipment is assessed, repaired, tested and documented here. A failing asset is out for days, not the weeks an overseas loop takes. When the right answer is unclear, a Technical Evaluation puts it in writing first.

  • Downstream Refining and Petrochemical

Downstream plant runs streams that attack metal all day. Corrosion under insulation thins pipework out of sight. Valves cycle thousands of times and lose their seats. Pump impellers erode and seals fail. The recurring question is how much of this can be fixed in place, without taking the plant down for weeks.

We refurbish process and isolation valves and represent Powell Valves for replacement duties. Pumps are stripped and rebuilt, with Ruhrpumpen among the lines we carry, and Groth equipment covers tank relief and flame protection. Belzona systems repair corroded and eroded surfaces in place, with no hot work.

The repair happens at the plant wherever the method allows, so damaged equipment barely travels. Valves leave us pressure tested. Coatings are matched to the stream they face, and the work is documented at handover.

  • Mining and Quarrying

Slurry eats impellers. Grit scores hydraulic bores. Impact and abrasion strip surfaces faster than painting-and-patching can keep up. These are failure modes SUAC’s repair systems were built for, whatever sector the equipment works in.

Pumps stripped and rebuilt. Where slurry has eaten casings and impellers, Belzona rebuilds put the metal back. Hydraulic cylinders and rams re-chromed, resealed and pressure tested. Abrasion-resistant surfacing applied in place on chutes, hoppers and structures. R.S. Clare lubricants for hard-worked mechanical duties.

The same discipline as everywhere else: assess the wear mode first, match the repair system to it, and document the result. If quarry or mining equipment is wearing faster than it should, send us the problem and we will give you an engineering answer in writing.

  • Water and Wastewater

Pump efficiency slides as impellers corrode, and wet wells and concrete structures are attacked by chlorine, biology and hydrogen sulphide. Every shutdown means dewatering. That is why the economics prefer repair done in place.

Pumps stripped, rebuilt and returned to their duty point, with Ruhrpumpen among the represented lines. Belzona systems rebuild and protect corroded pump internals, pipework and concrete in place. Several of the systems cure in damp conditions, which suits the environment this sector can actually offer.

Assess first, then repair with the chemistry matched to the attack. The work is done at the facility and documented at handover. If an asset is corroding or cavitating faster than it should, send us the problem and we will put the answer in writing.

  • Offshore Production

The splash zone eats structures. Wet-dry cycling and oxygen drive metal loss faster there than anywhere else, exactly where access is worst and hot work is hardest to permit. Topsides coatings, meanwhile, are cycled by salt spray and heat until they let go.

We rebuilt the corroded conductor of an abandoned well in the splash zone for an independent, Trinidad-focused operator. Cold-bonded plate, a composite encapsulation, no hot work, and no well re-entry. The full account lives on the splash-zone service page.

Splash-zone reinforcement on conductors, casings and structural members. Belzona protective coatings on topsides surfaces. Masterflo choke and valve supply and service for offshore process duties. The methods are cold applied, which keeps permitting simple on live facilities.

Work is planned to tidal windows and available access, with the platform maintenance team setting the constraints. No hot work means no isolation cascade, and the asset stays in service while we work on it.

  • Power Generation

Generation plant does not get an off-season. Cooling and feedwater pumps wear around the clock. Valves on steam lines lose their seats, coatings give way under heat and humidity, and none of it waits for a convenient week. An unplanned outage here is expensive in a way few failures match.

SUAC supplies, tests and certifies gate valves for power-sector customers. Each valve is tested against its rating before it ships, and the certification travels with it. Powell Valves is among the lines we represent for isolation and control duties.

We service and overhaul pumps for cooling, auxiliary and process duty, with Ruhrpumpen among the represented lines. Valves come to us for strip-down, rebuild and pressure test. Belzona systems restore eroded and corroded surfaces on casings, vessels and structural steel, applied in place.

Repair and coating work is scheduled to planned outage windows where the plant has them. The aim is always the same: assessed equipment back in service, restored to its rated condition, with the records to show it.

  • Food and Beverage

Food and beverage plant fights its own cleaning regime. Caustic and acid wash-downs, thermal swings and biological growth attack floors, drains and vessels. Every failure carries contamination risk on top of downtime.

We apply Belzona grades formulated for food-processing environments. They rebuild pitted floors, drainage channels, bunds and vessel surfaces. They stand up to the wash-down chemistry that took the original surface out. As a sub-distributor under Belzona Caribbean, SUAC applies these systems in-house.

The work is scheduled around production and cleaning windows, applied in place, and documented at handover. Tell us the surface and the regime it faces, and we will match the system to it.
